Organizing

Internship

Throughout my four years at Ithaca College, I have been involved in on and off-campus organizing, centered around social and environmental justice. My junior and senior year, I served as president of IC's anti-fracking and sustainable solutions student organization. I was also part of the Environmental Leadership and Actions Network, which led campaigns to divest IC's endowment from fossil fuels and push the school to use 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Off-campus, I was involved with the New York Green Umbrella, a state-wide network of young people working towards environmental justice. During the spring of my junior year, I was the Actions Coordinator for the Marcellus Spring Break, which was a week-long convergence that brought students from all over the state to Ithaca.

During spring semester of my senior year, I interned with the DIY Project for Renters as an Energy Savings Assistant. The project, which was in its first year, aims to assist low-income renters with their energy use and help perform low-cost energy upgrades. My role was to research building science and home energy efficiency. From this, I produced multiple brochures and handouts that will be handed out to prospective participants to help them better understand their energy use. This experience has allowed me to learn about building science and energy efficiency.

Work

During my sophomore year, I worked with the Ithaca College Resource and Environmental Management Program (REMP). During my time with REMP, I monitored the Take-It-Or-Leave-It center and and Office Supply Collection and Reuse Center. Along with this, I monitored the Compost-Recycle-Trash stations in the student center and at various campus events. This allowed me the oppurtunity to reach out to the campus community and visitors and teach them about our compost program. I also worked as a delivery service member for Ithaca To Go since my junior year.
