Interdisciplinary Physical Science
Environmental Law & Policy

In this course, we learned about the history and trends in environmental law and policy. We looked at domestic issues, major legislation, and international politics relating to climate change. Some major highlights were NEPA, the function of the EPA, and precedent-setting cases like Tennessee Valley Authority v. Hill.

This course was critical to my time at IC and what I have taken away from it. In this course, we learned about the basis of the physical world. Sections included heat, soil, and electricty. We conducted experiments to study the ways in which these subjects interacted with each other and the environment around us.

During my last semester at IC, I took this course, which focused for the first half of the semester on the production of a feasibility report on the use of a co-generation biomass system on campus. Through this, I learned about renewable heating, cooling, and electricity production. We finished the report and presented it at the 2014 Whalen Academic Symposium.

This is a course that I took during the fall of my senior year. We studied the history, ecology, culture, and economy of Belize. The course culminated in a two-week trip to the Central American country, where we travelled to different villages and national parks, explored the rainforest and ancient Maya ruins, lived with Belizeans, and more.
